Sonus Selected by NetVision for International VoIP Calling

sonusIsraeli ISP NetVision will deploy Sonus infrastructure for new international VoIP services network.

Sonus Networks (NASDAQ: SONS) announced that NetVision, Israel’s largest ISP, had selected Sonus’ GSX9000 Open Services Switch and its Insignus Softswitch to deliver VoIP services that would enable any owner of a telephone in Israel to make VoIP international calls using the prefix 017. The program was launched on 15 November 2004.

NetVision was established in 1994 and is co-owned by Elron Electronic Industries and Discount Investment Corporation. It was a pioneer of Internet use in Israel, and in expanding its business to international calling over IP, anticipates toll-quality voice and high call volume capacity from the Sonus packet voice infrastructure.

Sonus’ Open Services Architecture (OSA) has achieved wide interoperability throughout the VoIP industry. It addresses carrier applications including trunking, residential access and Centrex, tandem switching, IP voice termination, andenhanced services, and its harware platforms include media gateways, softswitches and network management systems.
